INTRODUCTION
~ By: Cecilia Meireles ~
1 Here is my life: 2 This sand so clear 3 With drawing that walk 4 Dedicated to the wind… 5 Here is my voice: 6 This empty shell 7 The shadow of a sound 8 Preserving its own lament… 9 Here is my grief: 10 This broken coral 11 Surviving its pathetic moment… 12 Here is my heritage: 13 This solitary sea — 14 On one side it was love 15 And on the other forgetfulness.

~Analyzing the poem~
Cecilia talks about how her life has been, what she's gone through , she compares her life to the sea, and the objects in the sea. She uses symbolism in the poem so readers can visualize what she is trying to interpret of what is going on in her life. Line 2 of the poem " The sand so clear with drawing that walk" Cecilia explains how vivid and clear the sand is, which could probably mean every little 'clear' detail in her life. In lines 5,6, 7 and 8 " Here is my voice, this empty shell, The shadow of a sound, preserving its own lament." She compares her voice to a shell, that could be shallow, she gives off a passionate expression of grief and sorrow.
~TONE~
The tone of this poem is quite sad, dreamy and glum. The poem is talking about her loneliness
and the depth of how her feelings get. There was once hope in her life and heritage, yet
it's gone. She coats the pain with a dreamy-like setting, which is the ocean, we find it
beautiful, but yet there is so much more to the ocean that we don't know, like her life.
Once we go deeper, who knows what else could be there. Maybe there is more grief.
~THEME~
The theme to "Introduction" is that life is like the ocean, steadfast yet unpredictable.
Inviting and warm, calm yet powerful to
drown our emotions away.
I really love the detail that was put into this. There is good points in here. Keep up the good work. :)
